HITH provides patients with the ability to receive acute inpatient care in the comfort of their own home, away from a hospital setting.

It allows patients to be closer to loved ones, in a familiar comfortable setting.

Blessie said she had worked in a similar service in New South Wales and had enjoyed it but was looking for a change of environment.

"After living in the hustle and bustle of Sydney my whole life, I knew I was ready for a change, I wanted a better work-life balance and a bit more breathing room," she said.

"I’d spent time visiting family in WA and always loved the lifestyle and everything Perth had to offer. When I moved to Perth, joining the Charlies HITH team was a no-brainer."

Blessie said the move had been positive on all fronts with the transition between health systems smooth and the Perth lifestyle fantastic.

"The team here is so supportive and the flexibility has been a game-changer," she said.

"If you’re looking for a fresh start, a great team and meaningful work that fits your lifestyle, I honestly couldn’t recommend HITH more."

Blessie said the best part of working in HITH at SCGH was the comradery.

"You’re never doing it alone; you’ve always got a great team around you - doctors, occupational therapists, physios, pharmacists, social workers, and of course, your fellow nurses - it’s a true team effort," she said.

"Also, with HITH department growing and taking a wider range of patients to reduce hospitalisation, I’ve had the chance to build on my skills too."

If you're a nurse and are interested in joining the HITH the team, there are currently registered and clinical nurses positions available.
