Our 2026 Long Service Awards were recently held to recognise our staff who have worked across North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) for 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 years.

This year 414 people were recognised for Long Service Awards, including senior clinical physicist Enid and building and maintenance painter Raymond who have both worked at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) for more than 50-years.

Highly-respected both nationally and internationally, Enid was part of the biophysics team that developed computerised testing systems that were fundamental to SCGH utilising emerging computer technology and medical equipment.

She is also responsible for introducing visual electrophysiology across the state after studying at Rotterdam Eye Hospital after receiving a Rotary Foundation Scholarship early in her career.

Raymond commenced at SCGH as an apprentice painter and has helped maintain and paint most of the buildings located on the site.

He has seen many changes at SCGH over the years, which included just A Block as the main hospital building when he commenced to now, including various buildings and services.

The Long Service Awards are part of the Staff Recognition Program. which aims to build on our strategic objective of being the ‘best place to work’ by creating a culture where people feel appreciated and valued.

The awards form part of our staff recognition program, which are generously supported by P&N Bank, Paywise, HESTA and Smart Group.
