Striving to provide safe and inclusive services to the community

North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) is dedicated to employing and retaining a workforce as diverse as the community we support. We strive to provide an open and inclusive workplace culture where diversity is valued, cultural backgrounds are respected, and all employees are provided an environment free from discrimination, harassment and unconscious bias.

We provide highly specialised multidisciplinary services at:

  • Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (external site)
  • King Edward Memorial Hospital (external site)
  • Graylands Hospital
  • Osborne Park Hospital (external site)

We also run a number of specialist and state-wide services (PDF).

Careers at NMHS

We offer a diverse range of career opportunities at NMHS, where you can make a difference to the lives of patients and the broader community.

We provide a comprehensive range of adult specialist medical, surgical, mental health and obstetrics and gynaecology services in WA.

We have more than 13,340 staff working across our sites in a variety of clinical, non-clinical and support service roles, across a range of professions and disciplines.

The NMHS Pride Network aims to create a safe space for LGBTQIA+ employees and their allies to connect and share with likeminded people across NMHS. The network discusses and implements innovative strategies for improving inclusion, share resources, and coordinate events to educate and celebrate all things LGBTQIA+.

Benefits at NMHS

We are the only health service provider in Western Australia who is a registered training organisation. We provide a range of learning and development opportunities for those just beginning in their careers to those wanting to move into more senior and specialised roles.

We recognise that not everyone can work standard hours and shiftwork and flexible options are available for a range of roles, including nursing, medical, allied health, mental health, administrative, clerical and support service roles.

Work-life balance is something we strive for by offering a raft of leave entitlements, including the option to purchase extra leave, and access to a deferred salary scheme which provides a paid year off work by reducing your take home salary by 20% over four years.
