Kim Jordaan
09/02/2021

Congratulations to Kim Jordaan, Coding Clerical Assistant in the Clinical Coding team within Business Information & Performance, who is the first NMHS Corporate Employee of the Quarter for 2021.

Kim has worked as the sole clerical support for Coding since September 2020, although the department requires 2.0 FTE clerks. After the retirement of a colleague Kim has gone above and beyond to support the department approaching this time as a challenge and working diligently, without a word of complaint or negativity.

Kim consistently performs above expectations using initiative, lateral thinking and a 'can-do' attitude. Kim is reliable, hardworking and committed and will always offer her help in unexpected circumstances or to tie up those loose ends without prompt and puts her department's business needs as priority.

Kim's nominator describes how Kim goes above and beyond her daily duties; "Kim is carrying the workload of two clerks to support coders and sources every medical record needed! Kim has introduced clever efficiencies with emailing and record requests alongside innovative changes, so medical records arrive into the Coding rooms from departments, hospital wide. The result is coders can meet KPI targets that are impressive and competitive against other health services. Kim displays her skills at SCGH full time but also provides leave cover at KEMH and OPH where leave relief was provided to both sites over the Xmas/New Year period and did this with minimal assistance".

Kim doesn't hesitate to assist patients and visitors on her 'treks' across the hospital, to direct or assist in whatever way she can. As well as collecting medical records into Coding, Kim ensures medical records required for patient care are delivered out of coding in the timeliest manner possible, putting the patient's needs first. The effort Kim puts into her duties is much appreciated by all colleagues that interact with her.

Kim demonstrates all the NMHS values in her nature and evidences them every day. Kim's nominator said, "Kim is thoughtful and will regularly accommodate change into her schedule in consideration of other people's priorities. Kim always shows compassion and is always supportive of her colleagues without judgment by listening attentively and showing genuine concern".

"Kim carries herself with dignity, is always early to work and is thoughtful and respectful to staff both internally and external to Coding. Kim participates in team activities, last year volunteering to make snowflakes the for Christmas Decoration Competition and has built excellent customer relations with staff across the hospital always demonstrating the epitome of respect. Kim is trustworthy to deliver on what she says and is always accountable for her actions. Kim always has a smile on her face and works collaboratively as part of the Coding teams at NMHS".

Kim and her colleagues celebrated at an afternoon tea where she was presented with a $150 gift voucher from sponsors.

A special thanks to our generous sponsors: HESTA, Paywise, Smartsalary and Aware Super.

If you've had a great experience with one of our staff members why not put them forward for an award? Next time you are onsite ask how you can submit a nomination.
